Hey there, fellow Pixar nerds! This week I had the absolute pleasure of stepping into a world where imagination knows no bounds – the grand opening of the Pixar Place Hotel at the Disneyland Resort. And let me tell you, folks, it’s nothing short of a Pixar perfection!
As I walked through the doors, I was greeted by the iconic Pixar Ball and Lamp, setting the tone for the whimsical adventure that awaited me. The lobby was a vibrant explosion of colors and creativity, with larger-than-life portraits of our favorite Pixar characters. Sulley from “Monsters, Inc.” and Merida from “Brave” were there, frozen in time.
But the real magic was when Lightning McQueen, Mater, and a whole gaggle of Pixar pals joined the grand opening dedication. It was a celebration like no other, with the DLR President and Pixar Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer leading the festivities.
Real life Bing-Bong at Pixar Place Hotel
Ever dreamed of meeting Bing Bong from “Inside Out” in the flesh? Well, dream no more because he’s making his worldwide debut right here at Pixar Place Hotel. The playful mix of characters continues with Joe Gardner from “Soul,” serenading guests with soulful piano tunes near the lobby staircase.
As I explored the hotel, it felt like I was on a journey through the Pixar universe. From the imaginative lobby with the silhouettes of Pixar friends in the flooring, to the rooftop deck hosting the Pixar Shorts Court inspired by beloved shorts like “Bao” and “For The Birds,” every corner exuded creativity.
Dining is a winner
The dining experiences at Pixar Place Hotel are actually pretty impressive. Great Maple, the flagship restaurant, serves up their signature Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Maple Bacon Donuts, which is so very, very good, surrounded by black and white portraits of Pixar characters. Great Maple is no stranger to SoCal, so run, don’t walk to get that chicken. The Sketch Pad Café, just off the lobby, has assorted pastries and sandwiches as well.
Nemo’s Cove is the new pool area, and if you didn’t guess, it’s a “Finding Nemo”-themed splash pad where your kids can run around. For those looking to relax, cozy fire pits provide the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the Disneyland Park fireworks.
Like Disneyland Hotel and GCH, guest enjoy benefits like early entry to the parks and a dedicated entrance to Disney California Adventure Park. So, if you’re a Pixar fanatic like me, you already have your stay booked. There are quite a few Disney offers out there right now, if you are interested in putting together a DLR vacation package, shoot me a message or Book an Appointment today!
