If you’ve spent any time on THK Travel Advisors’ website, you already know that my post about the best French pharmacy products is by far the most popular thing I’ve ever written. And honestly, I get it. There’s something almost addictive about walking into a pharmacie in France and realizing that half the products lining those shelves are things you’ve never seen in a U.S. drugstore — and that many of them are significantly cheaper than what you’d find on Amazon.
In this post, I will highlight the Best French Pharmacy Products Worth Buying that you should consider adding to your collection.
The Best French Pharmacy Products You Should Try
We’re headed back to Europe soon, and I’ve been doing a full inventory of what I have, what’s running low, and what I’m leaving off the shopping list this time around. So consider this the updated, honest version of that original post. I’ll tell you what I love, what I’ll absolutely rebuy, and yes — the one product that didn’t quite work for me.

Best French Pharmacy Products Worth Buying
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil
This one is almost empty at my house and that tells you everything you need to know. The Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse dry oil is one of those products I discovered on a trip to France and have been buying ever since. After a shower, it goes on weightless, has the most subtle, lovely fragrance, and just makes your skin feel incredible. There’s also a version with a slight bronzing effect if that’s your thing.
Yes, you can find this on Amazon. But you will pay significantly more. In France, you’re picking this up for a fraction of the price, and that alone makes it worth saving space in your bag. This is a must-buy every single trip.

A313 — Over the Counter Retinol
For anyone who’s been thinking about adding retinol to their skincare routine, the A313 is what I always recommend. This is essentially an over-the-counter Retin-A, and in France you can buy it right off the shelf without a prescription. A little goes a very long way, and it works. I already bought more than one on my last trip, and I’ll be picking up another while I’m there. If fine lines and wrinkles are on your radar, this is your product.
Caudalie Beauty Elixir
I’m almost out of this one too, which means it’s definitely coming home with me again. The Caudalie Beauty Elixir is a smoothing, glow-inducing face mist with the lightest, most pleasant fragrance. I use it as a second wind throughout the day, but it also works beautifully as a makeup setting spray. It’s a staple. Every time.
Caudalie Resveratrol Lift Moisturizer
I don’t always reach for this one every single day, but when I do use it, it feels genuinely luxurious. What I love about Caudalie is how eco-conscious they are — once you buy the original product, you can just buy the drop-in refill cartridge going forward. So when I’m in Paris, I’ll be picking up the replacement, not a whole new jar. That’s the kind of brand I want to support.
Caudalie Vinoperfect Dark Spot Serum
I don’t always reach for this one every single day, but when I do use it, it feels genuinely luxurious. What I love about Caudalie is how eco-conscious they are — once you buy the original product, you can just buy the drop-in refill cartridge going forward. So when I’m in Paris, I’ll be picking up the replacement, not a whole new jar. That’s the kind of brand I want to support.

Avene Thermal Spring Water Mist
Is this water? Yes, essentially. But hear me out. This mist is one of the best things you can bring on a long international flight. It soothes, it rebalances, it gives you that small dose of comfort somewhere over the Atlantic when your skin feels like parchment paper. I like to buy the travel size. I’ll be picking up more.
Beyond the Pharmacy
Panier des Sens Eau de Toilette
This one came from a perfumery, not a pharmacy, but it belongs in any France shopping guide. The Panier des Sens rose eau de toilette is divine. It’s a Marseille-based brand with a handful of boutiques in Paris, and the scents are just beautiful. I just started a new bottle so I won’t need to buy this trip, but if you’re in Paris and you walk past one of their stores, go in. You could spend a long time smelling things and I say that as a compliment.
Pure Essential Cryo Roller — Muscle and Joint
This is a cold roller for muscle and joint relief, and it has become an absolute cult favorite in our house. There’s also a hot version — I’ve already packed that one. These are not expensive at all and they work incredibly well. I’m not sure I need another set right now, but I might pick up an extra pair to give as gifts. They’re genuinely that good.
The Monoprix Find
Mitten Washcloths
These little mitten-shaped washcloths from Monoprix — France’s equivalent of Target — are one of my favorite things to bring back as gifts. They’re inexpensive, they’re practical, and when you pair one with a nice French soap, you have a genuinely thoughtful present that feels special. You don’t see a lot of liquid body wash in European bathrooms, and these washcloths are a big part of why. I’ll be picking up more for gift-giving this trip without question.

The Grocery Store Is a Gold Mine
French Salts
One of my favorite places to shop for gifts in France is the supermarket, and the salts are a huge part of that. I’m almost out of my Fleur de Sel de Guérande, which is a finishing salt I reach for any time I want to make something feel a little elevated. There’s also a second salt I picked up somewhere in the south of France that’s slightly different — both are worth getting and both make excellent gifts. I’ll be restocking and picking up extra for friends.
French Butter
I probably don’t need to explain this one. French butter comes home with us. Every time.
The One I'm Not Rebuying
Vichy 24-Hour Deodorant
I wanted to love this. It’s alcohol-free, it’s fragrance-free, it’s marketed for sensitive skin, and it has a great reputation. But honestly? I felt like it made me smell like onions. Maybe that’s just me. I used it long enough to give it a fair shot and it just didn’t work the way I needed it to. So that one stays off the list going forward. Honesty is important.
French pharmacy shopping is genuinely one of my favorite parts of traveling to France, and I’m not sorry about that. There’s something so satisfying about coming home with a bag full of products that actually work, cost a fraction of what they’d run you in the States, and remind you of the trip every time you use them.
If you’ve got a French pharmacy product you love that I haven’t mentioned here, leave it in the comments — I’m always looking to expand the list.
